Hi everyone –
Following my message a fortnight ago about the Club’s preparations for the new season, I want to give you a further update about our teams.
Based on current players registrations, we expect to have standalone teams in the following age groups: U/8 Mixed, U/12 Girls, U/14 Girls, U/14 Mixed, U/15 Boys, U/16 Girls, Youth Girls.
The committee is optimistic we will also have standalone teams in the U/9 Mixed, U/9 Girls, and U/11 Girls age groups, but, like all our teams, we need families to register their players to confirm our plans. If your son or daughter intends to play football at Surrey Park this season, please register them now using the link at the top of the newsletter.
As I have mentioned previously, there will be a Surrey Sharks team – a merged team with the Camberwell Sharks – competing in the Youth Boys age group.
Unfortunately, the committee has already determined that we will be unable to field teams in the U/10 Mixed, U/11 Mixed, U/12 Mixed, and U/13 Mixed age groups.
The committee will support any player from these age groups who wishes to continue their football journey at another club this season. An option for players who played in the merged U/9 Mixed team with Canterbury last year is to play in a standalone U/10 Canterbury team this year. So far, our coaches this season are: Adrian McAllister and Jack Hill (U/9 Mixed), Hollie Fields and Ben Street (U/9 Girls), Sam Griffiths (U/11 Girls), Simon Conroy (U/12 Girls), myself (U/14 Mixed), Simon Campbell (U/15 Boys), Curtis McCallum (U/16 Girls), Craig Turton (Youth Girls).

Representative football
Surrey Park has again been well represented in the representative teams that have been announced in the past week by the YJFL. Under 14: Henry Wilson, Zara Phan, and Hayley Waller-Hunt. Under 15: Ben King, Marco Van der Pligt, Maya Chhajed, Bronte McCallum, Sasha D’Odorico, and Lucy Gazzola. In further good news, Lucy has also been selected in the 2026 Oakleigh Chargers U/16 Girls Futures Squad.
This a fantastic recognition and reward for all these players who have been training hard during the off season. We look forward to following their progress later in the year.
Apparel night and mouthguard fitting
A reminder that the annual mouthguard fitting and apparel night is being held at the Surrey Park club rooms this Monday 2 March between 5pm-8pm. Players are encouraged to attend
so they can have their mouthguard ready for the practice matches on 29 March. Mouthguards are claimable through private health insurance dental extras cover.
Club apparel will also be available to purchase – shorts, hoodies, and socks. Noting, the Club will be wearing black shorts for every game this season. There is no need to purchase white shorts. Electronic payment only.
