In 2025 we had more girls playing footy for the Panthers than ever before.
We offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for players at all levels and our focus is on having fun, being part of a team and developing your footy skills.
Our Club is proud to have been awarded Women and Girls Chartered Club status by the AFL for 2025 and was one of the first YJFL clubs to be awarded.
Chartered Club status demonstrates our Club’s commitment to making community football club environments welcoming, safe and inclusive for women and girls.
At Surrey Park, we are pleased to offer the opportunity for girls to play footy in the following age groups in 2026:
- Under 9
- Under 11
- Under 16
- Youth
Coaching and Training
We have a great team of coaches who understand girls footy and who invest considerable time getting to know players, their strengths and what they want to get out of playing. Training is a combination of skills development and match simulation, with plenty of opportunity for players to speak to their coach and receive tailored advice and support for their own development.
Training is held weekly on one of the Surrey Park ovals. Our training sessions are focused and fun, with girls forming great friendships and learning the value of working together to succeed.
Pathways
We are incredibly proud of our girls program and the pathway for girls to continue to develop and remain connected to the Surrey Park community. The next step from the Youth team is to join the Surrey Park Senior Women’s team. This amazing group of women took home the 2024 Premiership Flag and were elevated to Division 1 for 2025.
Emerging talent is fostered through the YJFL training and Interleague competition across some age groups. Oakleigh Chargers is another representative option for girls keen to progress and compete at an elite level.
Surrey currently has a number of girls across the U14, U15 and U16 age groups who have been selected in YJFL and Oakleigh Chargers teams – a wonderful achievement.
